CC Alumna Edee Alexander Nominated to the Massachusetts Parole Board

Cambridge College is proud to highlight the remarkable achievements of one of its distinguished alumni, Edith "Edee" Alexander. Having graduated with a Master of Education in Psychological Studies in 1995, Edee Alexander's journey has been marked by a lifelong commitment to equitable treatment under the law and public service. Recently nominated by Governor Maura T. Healey to the Massachusetts Parole Board, Edee's story exemplifies the transformative impact of education and dedication to community service.
In a press release, Governor Healey expressed confidence in Edee Alexander's qualifications for the role, citing her dedication to ensuring equitable treatment under the law. Edee, currently serving as a Probation Officer for the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court, has been a leader in her community for decades.
Edee's career has been characterized by a deep commitment to community well-being. At present, she plays a pivotal role in running the CHOICE program at the Roxbury Division, aimed at reducing recidivism among young adults aged 18-24. The program involves regular interactions with participants, educational and job training programs, parenting courses, and assistance for those facing housing insecurity.
Edee's career began as the Program Director of Perrin House Community Services in Boston, where she supervised a residential program for pregnant and postpartum women recovering from substance use disorder. Later, as a Faculty Research Associate at Boston University's Graduate School of Social Work, she managed programs connecting city youth and their parents with educational and employment opportunities.
Edee Alexander's academic achievements include a B.A. in Social Work from Lincoln University and a Master of Education in Psychological Studies from Cambridge College. Her educational journey at Cambridge College equipped her with the knowledge and skills crucial for making a positive impact in the field of psychology and counseling.
As a nominee to the Massachusetts Parole Board, Edee Alexander will contribute to the mission of promoting public safety through supervised, conditional release of inmates to the community. This role aims to facilitate successful transitions from confinement to parole discharge, providing a foundation for continued responsible conduct.
