Acknowledging the Service of Dr. Pat Johnson

Cambridge College would like to acknowledge the dedicated service of Dr. Pat Johnson, who is stepping away from the role of Director of the School Nurses Education Program.

Pat joined Cambridge College as Director of this program in the 1990s when Dr. Sandra Rasmussen retired. In addition to holding this position for over 20 years, Pat also taught several courses, including Grief and Loss, Evaluation of Health Programs, Leadership, and the Professional Seminar.

As the Director, she was responsible for hiring staff, curriculum development, student advising, mentoring faculty, and working with College administration.

During the pandemic, Pat guided what was a year-long program that started with a summer residency in the Boston area into a fully online program that expanded from New England to the entire country.

Most recently, Pat designed two Certificate Programs, Advanced School Nursing with a Concentration in Health Promotion and Advanced School Nursing with a Concentration in Health Education, which include core and elective courses to provide additional professional development for the graduates of this program.

Professionally, Pat has held positions both as a teacher and a Registered Nurse in several school systems in Massachusetts, including Burlington, Hanover, Hanson, and Hingham.  In addition to Cambridge College, Pat taught and held administrative positions at several colleges, including Bridgewater State University, Quincy College, and Bay State Community College, and developed programs and courses for Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y.

Pat has been a passionate teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She often shares how privileged she feels about supporting students as they discover their personal and professional potential and that this has been the highlight of her professional career.

We at Cambridge College are pleased that Pat intends to continue as a Senior Instructor. We thank her for her leadership.
