Community Involvement

In the 1980s, Lunine Pierre-Jerome became an active member of the Association of Haitian Women in Boston (AFAB), a community-based grassroots organization whose mission is to "empower Haitian women by helping them develop individual and collective capacity to improve their social, economic, and political status and thus effect positive change in their lives and the lives of their families." During her tenure as vice president of the board, in a joint venture with the Women Institute, Inc., AFB planned, developed and implemented a housing development project for low-income families in Mattapan-Dorchester.
