Cambridge College awarded grant from Davis Educational Foundation

.

The Davis Educational Foundation grant will be awarded to the College to support development of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) over the next three years. The purpose of the new center will be to provide comprehensive academic support services to all students, and undergraduate students in particular, to ensure they are adequately prepared to succeed on their path to a college degree. The Davis grant will augment the substantial institutional funds to be committed by the College to developing the center and will be used in particular to enhance provision of services to undergraduate students across the three Massachusetts campuses in Cambridge/Boston, Lawrence and Springfield.

The grant was received from the Davis Educational Foundation established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis’s retirement as chairman of Shaw’s Supermarkets, Inc. Established as a public charitable foundation in 1985, the grant supports undergraduate programs of public and private, regionally accredited, baccalaureate degree granting colleges and universities throughout the six New England states. The foundation is an expression of the couple’s shared support and value for higher education and has provided over $103 million in grants to more than 157 institutions.
